Adaptive Reuse

Adaptive reuse is the process of adapting old structures for other purposes than were initially intended.

Repurposing existing building stock is the highest form of sustainability. The process requires a comprehensive knowledge of architectural history, historic building materials, historic material systems, and the ability to determine the cultural significance and character-defining elements of a historic resource.
